The mental health decline

- 1 in 10 people are affected by mental health issues worldwide

- The most common mental health disorder across the world is depression

- Anxiety and depression cost the global economy 12 billion working days per year

- The direct cost of lost productivity due to depression across Europe is estimated to be £77 billion per year

- The top causes of stress related absence are, heavy workload, poor management practices, and poor communication

- 1 in 5 people take a day off due to mental health issues, yet 60% feel unable to be honest about this being the reason for their absence

- 82% of employees have not talked about their mental health

People are not numbers, but we have become serious statistics...

Practicing Laughter Yoga daily does not remove all challenges of life. However, we rewire our brain to become more tuned into ways of tackling the ups and downs we inevitably face as human beings.

With a method that creates balance, resourcefulness and resilience we are able to sustain our health both physically, mentally and emotionally if only we are willing to laugh at times when it seems a tough day is ahead.

Practicing Laughter Yoga daily is not a way of laughing when it is inappropriate and unsuitable, we use laughter to build our strength for ourselves and find solutions as a team or group of people.

When we feel strong and full of capacity for ourselves, we can help others find the strength as well.

Happy World Laughter Day!

It has been 23 years and a bit since I went to my first Laughter Yoga and World Laughter Day experience in Copenhagen.

Laughter Yoga changed my life and ever since that Sunday in January 2000 I have been up to something with laughter and sharing how laughter impacts all areas in life when we choose it consciously.

Life is too precious to leave laughter to chance when laughter can help us maintain perspective of what is truly important.

And remember there is also always room for tears and serious comtemplation no matter how much laughter flows.

However, getting trapped in a vicious cycle of complaints is unhelathy and where laughter can help break out of old patterns and release stuck energy.

I love my work and I love the world of people with and also without Laughter Yoga.

Laughter Yoga makes you less judgmental and accepting, you become grateful and extend kindness no matter what.

Life shows your opportunities, make sure to make the most of it, and remember that even when you wear a smile during hard times, it is not a cover up but simply a way of shifting energy so you can cope with the challenge.

Laughter is life’s connective tissue.

Yesterday I met with 2 new friends and business connections, and we were asked to leave Costa.

Not because we were laughing too loud, though, but simply because we had been chatting until closing time. Although we did laugh loudly at times (as you do) 😄

When we share stories and ideas laughter flows and we become better listeners as well as courageous individuals.

Mindshare can be a scary thing because we are often committing to grandiose ideas and when reflecting back on what was discussed it can seem a very big thing.

However, when laughter flows in your veins you are never short of can-do attitude and courage.

There is no time to play it small, and it has never been on my agenda and neither on these two ladies’ agendas. We are all big and bold in the dreams and visions we create into being.

Yesterday was the first time I met these two awesome women who are up to making a difference in the world.

And what is super-extra-awesome is that I have been invited into their life changing project and I cannot wait to share more about it real soon.

When we liaise with others we have a greater chance of achieving dreams, visions, and extraordinary results for the world.

Laughter happens in the moment and it impacts how we are now and in the future.

We ignite a joy cocktail, which can last we all day, to splash around our body, and we reignite the connection with ourselves and each other as we become healthy and motivated, as well as great colleagues and friends plus we cope better with ups and downs.

Are you ready?

Laugh for 1 minute to bring mindfulness and peace to your busy minds.

Even if you do not feel in the mood, everyone can say haha and the muscle movement of the lips and cheeks lifting corners of your mouth connects with the pleasure centres in the brain and kicks off the biochemical response.

Physical, mental, emotional and spiritual wellbeing is affected. The most underrated activity we all naturally have the capacity to practice.
